We live in a modern world with modern ideas… well, sort of.
Recently I was thinking about urban legends and how many of us get caught up in these vibrant and imaginative glimpses of the past that combine a powerful fear-factor with #storytelling, and of course just enough information is given to leave room for interpretation.
Soon, I’m headed out West to swim in a beehive crater, who knew it was even there?
I have always been more of an international traveler, and am trying to get used to the idea that I may not use my passport again for a long time.
Do you remember the childhood stories in your hometown about ghosts, a killer clown lurking in the park, or the spooky basement in the creepy house you babysat in?
Not sure why it never dawned on me, but in also thinking about folklore––which has been a lifetime fascination of mine… there is often a social lesson or hidden value, as in a warning and usually a “price” to pay for not paying attention, being too curious and on and on.
Looking at social conditioning and the types of storytelling above, do you think we are being shaped, molded and formed by external forces? Asking for a friend.
More and more the evidence of AI and learning software is coming into play everywhere we look.
Just as I wonder if technology will be the new magic, as I portray in my latest short story,
Is the urban legend phenomena of our modern time... simply a re-imagining of folklore?
Sure, in our current age you will get tales of haunted cars, cell phones that mysteriously text you in the middle of the night (is anybody out there?) and women dressed like a 1950s character with a poodle skirt and saddle shoes.
Is this same story usually not one that creates terror or invokes fear, and often teaches us that we can’t be curious and people shouldn’t wonder about things or we will pay a deep cost for it.

Publish day is September 6, 20201. YES!!!! The paperback will be available on Amazon soon after.
Thank you for your amazing support! This fabulous collection co-written by Bibiana Krall and Veronica Cline Barton holds insights about life, flawed heroines, while offering a glimpse of luxurious lifestyles, and carves up ethereal moments with eerie spirits and a smidge of the bizarre.
It also illuminates a map of the human heart, the light, yearning for something elusive and its darkness too.
Not to mention that these stories, just like Hearth Fires take you to gorgeous places in the world on your top one hundred bucket list: Aspen, Norway and Italy… to name a few. Escapist fiction, yes please!
Lest we forget the Holy Grail of books, TV and film, it’s entertaining to the last page!
We cannot wait to share the second book in The Haunted Series. It’s twisty, a little more psychological and you won’t see the ending coming for miles.
A little birdie told me this collection is even better than last year’s (yay!) and is being shape shifted into a treatment, logline and pitch with my fabulous partner and co-writer Veronica Cline Barton for a potential TV Series.
Send good vibes! If you know someone in the biz looking for #herstories #mystery #gothic stories to develop, we would love to hear from you!
Tons of behind-the-scenes magic and collaboration must happen for that dream to come to fruition. Consider this blog post a vision board.

Hi- just making sure you know that lgbmom23 is the Real Laura of OK Boomer podcast fame! Delighted to run into my sis here! Laura is probably too young to remember, but before our family church built a new building, we worshipped in a 100 year old building downtown, crammed with hidden staircases, creepy basements, dark attics. The Sunday School kids would play hide n seek- thrilling and scary. My intro to a different dimension. Thanks for all the creative writing news Bibiana!
Swimming in a beehive crater? Do tell and I can get completely absorbed in urban legends! I remember a creepy upper floor of of an old home/photographer's studio that as a child was terrifying and yet totally fascinating, thanks for the fun memories and tell us about your upcoming trip.
Points to ponder for sure, Bibiana---not sure what is real these days...Congrats on the edgy Hive and the fantasy twirl in Mont Pelier! So looking forward to the next journey with you for the Haunted Series---pitches, treatments and a series oh my!💀📚🎬💋 #BookToFilm
